چکیده

IOCV is pleased to present “Citrus Rootstocks: Their Characters and Reactions”, an unpublished manuscript by the late Prof. W.P. Bitters, University of California, Riverside. Based upon Bitters research many other sources, this work was compiled between 1960’s 1986 (additional information in preface). It represents a comprehensive (for that era) treatment facets citrus rootstock physiology, horticulture, pathology. Rootstocks serve as both conduits for disease development potential management tools, well tools dealing with abiotic stresses. The history use rootstocks has largely been determined these factors, they continue greatly influence usage. Although advances knowledge regarding have made since 1986, basic presented remains important all citriculturists. We here review the evolutionary theory relevant to the question of human cooperation and compare the results to other theoretical perspectives. Then, we will summarize some of our own work, distilling a compound explanation that we believe gives a plausible account of human cooperation and selfishness. This account leans heavily on group selection on cultural variation but also includes lower l...

A Career Perspective on Citrus Rootstocks, Their Development, and Commercialization

Professor Hume was right: rootstocks are critical and much is still to be learned. Rootstocks and scions are the foundation of many tree fruit industries of the world. Together, those components establish profitability, but it can be argued that the rootstock is the critical component; otherwise, scions would be grown on their own roots everywhere. There is no precedent for the failure of a cit...

Reaction of citrus rootstocks to Meloidogyne javanica.

The response of Citrus spp. and related rootstocks to a population of Meloidogyne javanica was evaluated in a screenhouse experiment. Palestine and Rangpur lime, rough lemon, sour orange, Sexton and Thentriton tangelo, and Volkamer lemon were not infected by M. javanica. Galls and tip swellings were observed on the roots of Poncirus triloliata and Troyer citrange. There was no evidence of nemat...

Morphological Description of Three Potential Citrus Rootstocks

Morphological studies showed that tree shape in Bitter sweet orange and Yuma citrange was spheroid with spreading growth habit and wide branch angle. Leaves were simple with dark green color, medium size and brevipetiolate in Sour orange while Yuma citrange had trifoliate leaves with medium and green color. Bitter sweet orange had the highest leaf lamina length (10.4 mm) than other rootstocks. ...

A speed - up theorem for cryptosystems . ( 2000 , unpublished manuscript )

We show that any encryption/decryption system can be converted to an algorithm which uses roughly three machine operations per bit. We prove that our technique yields an encryption/decryption system which is as secure as the original system provided the plaintext has full-entropy. We then show how to remove the full-entropy assumption. Our techniques speed up software implementations of RSA by ...
